McGowan Institute – Regenerative Medicine Summer School and 8-Week Internships
June 16-21, 2019
Announcing the 6th Annual Regenerative Medicine Summer School. There are also a limited number of 8-week internships available starting at the conclusion of the summer school. The internships start on June 24th and conclude on August 16th. Applicants for an intern position must register for and attend the summer school.
Objective:
To provide national and regional students with a week-long didactic and experiential learning experience addressing the science and engineering related to the multidisciplinary field of regenerative medicine.
Target Audience:
Undergraduates, enrolled in a science or engineering program that will have completed their 3rd year of study. Also, exceptional candidates who will have completed their 2nd year of undergraduate study will be considered.

McGowan Institute-Pittsburgh, PA
June 16-21, 2019
Students will be provided accommodations in a University of Pittsburgh dormitory for the week. Please plan to arrive on June 16th and depart on June 22nd.

Program Outline:
Combination of lecture and hands-on laboratory activities addressing:
- Review of Laboratory Basics
- Tissue Engineering
- Cell-Based Therapies
- Medical Devices
- Clinical Translation and Commercialization
- Select social, networking, and career counseling activities
8-Week Internships:
There are a limited number of 8-week internships available following the summer school week. The stipend for an internship is $3,000. Interns will be assigned to a lab of a McGowan affiliated faculty member and will work with a mentor on an assignment. Please note: the room and board provided during the summer school week does not extend to the internships. If you are interested in being considered for the 8-week intern program, please indicate so on the application.
Application Deadlines:
Applications for the 2019 Regenerative Medicine Summer School will be accepted starting January 23, 2019. Final admission decisions will be made by May 1, 2019 and accepted students will be notified by letter. Applications and related documentation should be submitted to the program director at the email address provided below.
